The Office of the Public Advocate as part of its review function, auspiced a project about Dual Diagnosis (mental health and substance use) services in Country South Australia. It was undertaken by Dr David Grelotti, Psychiatry Resident of Massachusetts General Hospital, and a Clinical Fellow of Harvard Medical School during a 4 week attachment to the office, and was strongly supported by Country Health SA, staff and consumers.
In 2009 a discussion paper was prepared from this office on the assessment and treatment of people who have both a mental illness and drug and alcohol disorder in South Australia.
This paper has already been circulated to participants. We hope that this work will be useful to the work already underway across South Australia to improve services in this area. Both Country Mental Health Services and Drug and Alcohol Services SA have been working to develop stronger links.
A copy of this paper can be obtained on the following link. Read More
